Child Find Services
The Weld RE-4 School District will be conducting two free developmental screenings for children 1-month to 5-years-old and not yet attending kindergarten. The purpose of the screening is to identify children who may be in need of special education services and/or to provide information regarding early childhood development. A screening is required if you are interested in participating in the Colorado Preschool Program. For more information regarding the Colorado Preschool Program please log onto the preschool website (www.weldre4.k12.co.us).
The screenings are two-part and include vision/hearing testing and a developmental screening. The first set of screenings will be held in January. The vision/hearing will be held on Monday, January 12 at Grandview Elementary School. The developmental screening will be held on Monday, January 26 at the same location.
The second set of screenings will be held in February with vision/hearing on Monday, February 9, and developmental screenings on Monday, February 23.
A vision/hearing screening is required prior to the developmental screening. Parents/guardians interested in scheduling an appointment, or for further information, may contact Carla Jacobsen at 686-8017.
Please note that these screenings are not mandatory to register for Tuition Preschool and do not enroll you in the Tuition Preschool program. For more information regarding the Weld RE-4 Preschool Program please log onto the preschool website (www.weldre4.k12.co.us).
If you suspect that your child may be delayed in meeting developmental milestones or in need of therapy, child find services are available to help you. Call 970.686.8008 and speak to the child find coordinator, Heidi Blair, or you can e-mail her at email@example.com
General Preschool Information
Preschool classrooms are located at Tozer Primary, Grandview Elementary, Range View Elementary and at Skyview Elementary.
Each class is staffed by a certified teacher and a para-professional. There are no more than 16 children in each class. Our program is an integrated program and each class has some students with special needs, some students who attend under the Colorado Preschool Program and also some students who attend as tuition students. Each class has an opportunity to access the school library, participates in a large motor obstacle course and group language activity once a week. Speech/Language Therapists, Occupational Therapists and other related service personnel provide services to special needs students within the classroom.
Children participate in a curriculum that offers rich experiences to help them develop their social, communication, cognitive, self help, fine and gross motor skills as well as opportunities that help support pre-readiness skills for Kindergarten. We use nationally recognized Creative Curriculum GOLD widely regarded as a forward-thinking, comprehensive, rigorously researched curriculum approach that honors creativity and respects the role that teachers play in making learning exciting and relevant to every child as well as Preschool Positive Behavior Intervention Support (PBIS), Hand Writing Without Tears and Zoophonics in each classroom.
Preschool classes are held Tuesday through Friday.
Morning hours are 8:05 to 10:50 a.m. and afternoon hours are 12:05 to 2:50 p.m.
Tuition for our preschool in the 2014-2015 school year will be $295.00 per month.
